Armchair DAR Eiffel-Fiberglas group by Charles & Ray Eames 1950
DAR Armchair was developed at the beginning of the 1950s for the "Low Cost Furniture Design" competition of the Museum of Modern Art in New York. The chairs are part of Charles & Ray Eames' "Fiberglass Group". The seat shell is connected to the chrome-plated stable feet via so-called "shock mounts". These models were the first industrially manufactured plastic chairs in history. The original was made of fiberglass, but today they are of ABS, which is less sensitive to scratches, and is dull.
