Noguchi Isamu, (born November 17, 1904 in Los Angeles, † December 30, 1988 in New York) was a Japanese-American sculptor and designer. Noguchi's elemental interest in sculpture made him switch between working as a designer and architect. It was the years in New York, several trips to Japan, and a two-year residency as a Guggenheim Fellow in Paris, where in 1927, for half a year, he worked in the studio of Constantin Brancusi, who profoundly influenced Isamu Noguchi's work. His works show the influence of Western art as well as the Japanese and Chinese traditions.
